Full Time JR/Intermediate EIT/Engineer

Position Summary
MIC Energy Corp. is currently seeking a junior/intermediate level Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Canadian Oil and Gas industry. The applicable candidate must be well versed in the application of electrical design with availability as a full time employee at our Quarry Park location in Calgary, Alberta.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Successful candidates must be able to execute the technical requirements listed below:

  1. Electrical design on heavy industrial Oil and Gas projects

  2. Participate in delivering quality electrical packages as part of an electrical team and independently dealing with clients and other multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  3. Work independently on assigned tasks in an efficient manner

  4. Provide technical support to other staff and clients

  5. Required to perform tasks at client office locations and visit project field locations on occasion, as requested

To complement the above listed responsibilities, ideal candidates must possess the key skills listed below:

  1. Familiarity with MS Office: Word, Excel, and Access

  2. Team participation skills

  3. The ability to demonstrate leadership skills and qualities

  4. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently in an efficient manner

  5. Strong interpersonal communication skills

  6. Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills

  7. A strong understanding of all aspects of electrical design including load calculations, cable sizing, power distribution, heat tracing, modular design, equipment specification, area classification, power system studies, instrumentation, and control philosophy

  8. A strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code

  9. A strong understanding of required electrical deliverables and calculations for Oil and Gas projects

  10. Experience with low voltage MCCs and switchgear is a must

  11. Experience with medium and high voltage applications is an asset

  12. Experience working on a project from preliminary feed study to final project commissioning and start-up is an asset

  13. Experience working with AutoCAD is an asset

  14. Demonstrates the ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and pursue growth in their career

Successful candidates must possess the following educational requirements:

  1. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Canadian Oil and Gas industry

  2. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada

  3. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electrical Engineering

  4. As a minimum, candidates must be registered as an EIT with APEGA

  5. Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation with APEGA considered an asset
